The 762nd Chulmleigh Old Fair is underway this week with plenty of fun for all the family.
The fair opened on Tuesday with the raising of the white glove, the crowning of Fair Queen Daisy Parsons and then the money scramble ceremony.
It continued today (Wednesday), with visitors and locals alike enjoying the Country Fair and a sheep show.
A quacking good time was had by all, including Starr the duck, who popped into the Old Court House pub for a swift beakful of ale, accompanied by owner Barry Hayman as they fundraised for Children’s Hospice South West.

Tomorrow (Thursday) sees the popular Sports Day taking place with sports for all from 2pm at the playing field.
The party continues into the night with Party at the Pavilion providing music and family entertainment.
Following an action-packed Friday, events will be taking place throughout the village on Saturday.

At 3pm, the Ploughboys Jazz Band will lead a parade to Fore Street where the Town Crier Competition will then begin.
The evening line-up is just as exciting with a Tug of War for teams of clubs and pubs at Great Mill Park Field from 7.30pm, plus a giant sack race and a wheelbarrow race at 8.15pm.
The Old Fair has been an annual event in the village since 1253. Sylvia Gilson BEM, festival organiser, was delighted with the ongoing success of the festival when the Gazette met her today (Wednesday).
Sylvia was wearing her BEM medal, awarded in the Queen’s New Year’s Honours List for her remarkable commitment to the Old Fair.

The fair ends on Sunday with an inter-town 20/20 cricket match from 1pm at the cricket ground and an exhibition of the fair’s heritage from 2pm in the Town Hall.
